It’s been an overcast, gloomy day and then some light rain. When the gloomy and cold was replaced with sun and a glorious rainbow, it made me think about how quickly things in our lives can change too. When we are living a gloomy life, do we try to find the rainbows, or merely assume that life only has gloom to offer?
Many years ago I was taught by Jim Rohn to look at nature to better understand life. How true. One of the things he shared was that there are seasons in our lives, not just in nature and he pointed out that there are patterns of change.
Think about that for a minute. Have you ever thought of your life as being comparable to the seasons in nature? Spring is the time when we have opportunity and we must approach it with faith in the future. Spring passes quickly so you must take action to enjoy the advantage of its opportunity or there will not be a bountiful autumn harvest.
Whatever seeds were spread in the spring must be protected during the summer. There are weeds in life that will try to squeeze out the goodness we plant. Think of the friend whose attitude toward your personal development is negative rather than encouraging or supportive. That is a weed which you cannot allow. That weed will ruin the seeds you are nurturing and it will destroy your anticipated harvest.
Fall is the reward for the planting we did in the spring and the diligence we demonstrated in the summer to cultivate and protect. An abundant harvest can ward off the bitterness of winter. Failure to take action in the springtime of opportunity and to safeguard our crops in the summer is apparent when there is no crop to harvest in the fall. The barren fields forecast a long and miserable winter.
I see the rainbow glowing over my thriving crops. The rain has moved on but the rainbow is a reminder of the seasons of life.
